2017 Beauty Favorites Still In Rotation

Hi guys, C. Leigh here with another beauty post—this time for both the ladies and gents. I’m coming to you all with some of my 2017 beauty product favorites that I’m keeping in rotation this year. Now, for my gentlemen, yes, I’m serving up some beauty secrets that you too can benefit from. Just because you’re manly, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be beautiful. And ladies, I have some extra goodies for you too.

To begin, let’s talk about my favorite skin care and hair care products that both my ladies and gents can benefit from. First up, my favorite hair care products, as of late, was suggested to me by my hairstylist in Cleveland, Ohio (Aerie Parks). She is a firm believer in the Decca Plus line. When I tell you this stuff is the truth, I mean it! Currently, I’ve been using their Satin Shampoo ($9.50), Instant Conditioner ($10.50), and (I am especially in love with their) Satin Tamer ($11.50). Spray the Satin Tamer on wet or dry hair, straight or curly (it doesn’t matter) and it will leave your hair silky, detangled, and well-tamed without messing up your style. I just purchased their Deep Conditioner ($25), so once I give it a try, I’ll be sure to let you guys know if it’s a winner or not. But, their products are amazing. Since going natural over 5 years ago, my hair would shed a lot, I can basically count the few strands I lose on wash day now. Try it ladies and gents & let me know if you love it just as much as I do!

My last favorite hair product is the Tresemmé Expert Keratin Smooth Frizz & Humidity Defense Masque, which I picked up from Target ($4.99—which is currently on clearance for $4.24—not much of a savings if you ask me, but hey, a saved coin is a saved coin). It’s literally magic in a bottle! It’s good for natural and relaxed hair, color-safe, and it leaves my hair silky smooth. Winter season for me means straight hair (a luxury I do not get to enjoy during the summer because of the Texas heat and humidity). After deep conditioning with the mask, not only is my hair soft and smooth, it leaves my curls and my color poppin’.

My last product good for both the men and women is this 100% pure Shea Butter (unrefined—pure and organic, cold pressed, virgin—raw) from Buena Skin which I purchased from Amazon ($10.99). Now, most of us know that Shea butter is a natural, moisturizing, healing butter, rich in Vitamin A, E, D, and F. Although it’s good for fading scars/stretch marks, and clearing up rashes and eczema, and used by many of your favorite hair gurus, it is great for soft skin. Personally, I use this on my feet. I work-out hard and run a lot, and this product has saved your girl’s feet—leaving them soft and callous free. However, feel free to get any brand you want; you can get 100% pure shea butter from just about anywhere, but quality matters.

Now ladies, let’s get into these hair and makeup beauties really quickly. You guys already know that I am in love with Bare Minerals Bare Pro Performance Wear Liquid Foundation, which I picked up from Ulta ($34—worth every penny). I am also a fan of Bare Minerals Combo Control Milky Face Primer ($26). Although it’s good, I still feel like I could do better with the price. Now, if you didn’t know, I’m big on flawless looking skin and a pretty lip. So, as for some lippies, the latest two additions to my lip collection is the Always On Matte Liquid Lipstick in Chill Zone (deep/cool grey) by Smashbox, which I picked up from Ulta for ($24—it’s worth it ladies); and the Infallible 8HR Pro Gloss in Blush (115) by L’Oréal (also available at Ulta ($9.99), but I bought it from Walmart for ($7.97).

Now, a lady should always leave the house with her lashes curled and eyebrows brushed. Yes, you read correctly, brushed. I don’t arch/thread/or draw my eyebrows on. I’ve always had thicker eyebrows and have been in love with them ‘90s eyebrows look ever since I saw a picture of my mom rocking caterpillar eyebrows. But, even if you arch, thread, tweeze, and/or draw them on, sometimes just giving your natural eyebrows a little shape makes all the difference. To help me out, I’ve been using the 24-HR Brow Setter by Benefit, which I purchased from Ulta ($24). As for the lashes, I have in love with Essence Get BIG Lashes! Volume Curl Mascara. Even with no lashes on, my eyelashes be poppin’. For my bottom lashes, I have religiously been using L’Oréal Paris Telescopic Mascara, also bought from Ulta ($9.99).

Lastly, for my natural hair ladies, you know, straight hair and curly hair calls for different edge controls. Although I rarely need or use edge control on my straight hair, when I do want a more polished look, I grab my Giovanni Wicked Texture the Definition of Pomade, which I came across at Sprouts (it was either $8.99 or $9.99, but you can get it from Walgreens, Amazon, and similar stores).

I hope you found this helpful!

If you try these goodies, let me know if you like them, love them, or if it's a complete throw away. Lol!
