New Fitness Goals?

My essentials. What's yours?

My essentials. What's yours?

It takes commitment.

Hey guys! I found it particularly fitting to release our first fitness blog post on the first day of 2018. Every year, we all make resolutions. Often times we refer to them as goals because the second you say New Year resolution, people start to hate (i.e. “Oh, new year, new you, huh?” which just be dripping with sarcasm). We all know the stigma along the idea of New Year resolutions—most times, people fall through on their “commitment” and they’re back to setting the same goals again the next year.

Anyways, many of us have set new goals (or maybe old goals that we didn’t accomplish in the previous year(s). Although the specifics of our goals may vary, or the end result may look different on each of us, most of us have set some big fitness goals—and I’m all the way here for it! Fitness can be so tricky at times. Some people don’t realize that it’s not just a physical battle, it’s a mental and spiritual battle as well.

Often times we forget that Satan doesn’t want us to succeed in ANY area of our lives, including our health, which usually effects how we view ourselves. If you look in the mirror and don’t like what you see, Satan gets pleasure from that. If you overeat or hardly eat because of stress, anxiety, or obsession, Satan is pleased. If getting dressed brings forth feelings of sadness, depression, or regret—trust me—Satan is somewhere lurking and dancing. I say all of that because self-love and care is important. It does not make you vain or self-absorbed to have a desire to look your best or to consider health/wellness/fitness a priority.

With that being said, we are walking into 2018 with confidence in who we are in Christ. We are walking into the new year with courage to create new, healthy habits and make any necessary changes, when it comes to improving our health. Although accountability partners are great, and lifewithcleigh.com is proud to encourage, uplift, and inspire (as we too are walking our own fitness journey), make yourself accountable to yourself. The support of others is a true blessing, but don’t forget to encourage yourself—and most importantly, make God your first accountability partner, okay? As I said before, health and fitness is a spiritual battle. The more in tune you are with God, the stronger you will be when it comes to battling the enemy and temptation. If you lean on God in your fitness journey (I promise you), you will be better equipped to achieve your fitness goals. It will be easier to make healthy lifestyle decisions.

Guys, it’s a new year; but remember, every day is new opportunity to strive for better.

So, yes, set your goals, but make it your business to work toward them daily.

Until next time, peace & love to you all.
